WHY WE DO IT

HIV/AIDS is the #1* health issue facing the African-American community; women and teens are the fastest growing demographic for new infections. Community members and leaders must assume full responsibility for impeding and eradicating this epidemic.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that:

African-Americans account for only 12% of the United States population, but make up 72% of all newly reported HIV infections and over 50% of all AIDS diagnoses.

HIV/AIDS is among the top three leading cause of death among African-American women ages 25-34 and men ages 35-44.*

In 2001, African Americans accounted for approximately 21,000, or 50%, of estimated new AIDS cases diagnosed among adults.

The LET'S TALK, LET'S TEST FOUNDATION hopes to move HIV/AIDS to the forefront of the consciousness of our nation.
